Common questions
The voice sounds robotic
RottenPDF uses the text-to-speech voices your device already has; it does not ship its own. A better voice installed in your system speech settings improves every app, this one included. The app walks you through installing one the first time you open it.
Nothing is read, or the app says my PDF is a scan
A scanned PDF is a stack of photographs of pages: there is no text in the file to read. RottenPDF tells you this rather than reading you silence. Text recognition for scans is not implemented yet.
Which formats work
PDF, DOCX, RTF and TXT. EPUB is not supported yet.
Does playback continue when I leave the app?
Not yet. Background listening is the next thing being built.
Where do my documents go?
Nowhere. A copy is kept in the app's private storage on your device so you can come back to it.
The app makes no network requests — on Android it does not even declare the
INTERNET permission. See the privacy policy.

La voce suona robotica
RottenPDF usa le voci di sintesi che il dispositivo ha già; non ne porta di proprie. Una voce migliore installata nelle impostazioni vocali di sistema migliora ogni app, questa compresa. L'app ti accompagna nell'installazione la prima volta che la apri.
Non legge niente, o dice che il mio PDF è una scansione
Un PDF scansionato è una pila di fotografie di pagine: nel file non c'è testo da leggere. RottenPDF te lo dice, invece di leggerti il silenzio. Il riconoscimento del testo sulle scansioni non è ancora implementato.

Non ancora. L'ascolto in background è la prossima cosa in lavorazione.
Dove finiscono i miei documenti?
Da nessuna parte. Una copia resta nell'archivio privato dell'app sul tuo dispositivo, così puoi
riprenderla. L'app non fa richieste di rete: su Android non dichiara nemmeno il permesso
