Privacy Policy

eTuner ("the app") is published by Federico Infelici, an individual developer ("I", "me"). This policy explains what data the app handles on iOS and Android and why.

Microphone

The app uses the microphone only while the tuner, intonation check or string check screen is open and the app is in the foreground. Sound is analysed in real time on your device to estimate its pitch and, during a string check, how quickly each plucked string fades. Audio is never recorded, stored, or sent to me or anyone else. The app works without an internet connection.

Settings, instruments and logbook

Your preferences (reference pitch, instrument, theme and similar) and the instruments you add, with their logbook (names, tunings, scale lengths, string change dates and string sets, results of string and intonation checks), are stored only on your device. There is no account and nothing is synced; deleting the app deletes them. On Android they may be included in your device backup if you have backups turned on.

Advertising

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK). To serve and measure ads, Google may collect:

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent form before personalised ads are used. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy options. On iOS, the app asks permission to track through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; if you decline, the advertising identifier is not shared. On Android, you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in the system settings.

Google acts as an independent controller for this data. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy.

Purchases

The "Remove ads" purchase is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). I do not receive your payment details. The app only checks with the store whether the purchase is active on your account. Once purchased, no ads are requested and no advertising data is collected by the app.

Children

The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country).

Usage statistics

To understand how eTuner is used and improve it, the app sends usage statistics to Google Analytics for Firebase, a Google service that processes them on my behalf. They include: the screens you open; the instrument preset and settings in use (such as reference pitch, note names and theme); notes that reach the in-tune state and how long the tuner listened; results of intonation and string checks (the deviation in cents, whether a pluck could be measured and the freshness percentage), how many instruments you have and when you log a string change, without instrument names or string sets; taps on the purchase and restore buttons; standard app events such as first launch, sessions and updates; device model, operating system, language and app version; approximate location (country and region) derived from your IP address; and a random identifier that the SDK creates for this installation.

They never include audio, your name or email, or the advertising identifier, and they are not used for advertising: ad storage and ad personalisation are switched off for Analytics. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in keeping the app working well; you can object at any time by turning off Settings → Privacy → Share usage statistics, after which nothing more is sent. Event-level data is deleted by Google after 2 months; only aggregated reports remain.

Data I receive

I do not run servers for the app. The only data I receive is the usage statistics above, which I see as reports in Google Analytics. I never receive audio, payment details or personal data such as your name or email.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws you may access, correct or delete personal data and object to processing. The usage statistics are tied only to the random installation identifier, so I cannot find them from your name or email; you can stop them with the setting above, and reinstalling the app starts a new identifier. Requests about advertising data should be made to Google through the links above; you can also withdraw consent in the app at any time. For any question, contact me at fede.infe1@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.

Informativa sulla privacy

eTuner ("l'app") è pubblicata da Federico Infelici, sviluppatore individuale ("io"). Questa informativa spiega quali dati gestisce l'app su iOS e Android e perché.

Microfono

L'audio non viene mai registrato, salvato né inviato a me o a terzi. L'app funziona anche senza connessione a Internet.

Impostazioni, strumenti e registro

I tuoi diritti
